4 interesting and useful facts for you to know about your hair. We want you to have the best most healthiest hair possible and especially in between visits you may loose your way or get confused or forget what products to use or how to care for your hair properly.
Here are 4 tips from Alisha about things you might not know but should keep and eye on for beautiful, healthy hair
- washing your hair too often can make you scalp and hair oilier, not any cleaner.
- hair loss can increase over time if the hair follicle is lacking in oil, leading to a build up of collagen. strangulation of the hair follicle can be a result of this, leading to thinning or balding.
- straighteners should be used minimally, and always with an argan oil AND a heat protectant spray, to avoid constant and irreversible hair breakage from pressure, heat and friction of straightening irons.
- Pantene and Tresseme shampoo/conditioners and styling products contain insoluble silicon products that continue to build up on the hair shaft, which, over time can stop colours penetrating the hair cuticle, and worse lead to hair breakage from friction due to brushing

Hi Alisha, I’m at my wit’s end with hair that’s getting thinner each year. I’m worried about balding. Do you have any suggestions.? I’m a 55 year old woman who is just starting menopause. About 10 years ago I had woven hair extensions and wonder if that damaged my hair. I also have thyroid issues. Yay! Anyway, any suggestions would be appreciated. With kind regards.
Hi Ruth,
Thanks for your blog.. I can sympathise with your situation, a lot of women and men experience hair thinning as we age.. my first piece of advice would be to get off the supermarket shampoo and conditioner, as they have washing up liquid in them. . My second important piece of advice is to massage your scalp daily and thoroughly. My ban used to tell me to brush my hair is 100 times a day.. the skin on ur scalp should move freely as such.
A question? Do you eat many fresh vegetables? As they are vital to hair growth and strength. .
And lastly. Get yourself a supplement called ” sillica” frome health food shop. It’s for brittle hair and nails..
Kind Regards,
Alisha Green
